Join us Saturday, September 13 for an informative lecture (and demo) about the nuts and bolts involved in a portrait career from Portrait Society of Atlanta Advisory Board Member Carol Baxter Kirby.

In a lecture format with Q&A, Carol will walk us through the life of a portrait artist, sharing both the business and artistic sides. Although her own career focus is portraiture, the concepts are applicable to other art specialties. Some of the areas to be covered are:

• portfolio tips
• marketing and communication strategies
• contracts, business paperwork, and taxes
• sittings and photography / lighting
• editing photos for better compositions
• drawings and color studies
• materials, equipment, studio set up
• framing, unveiling, photographing finished paintings
• organizing schedules, billing, travel, shipping

Carol Baxter Kirby is a leader in the field of portraiture and an accomplished artist from Atlanta, Georgia.
