November Meeting – Mural Painting

Portrait Society of Atlanta (PSA)  Member of Merit, Cheryl Mann Hardin will give a slide presentation, talking about the similarities, differences and demands of portrait painting vs. mural painting. Cheryl will review ten of her major murals in various stages from conception to completion which will include both public and private murals.  

Cheryl has been a member of PSA for almost 20 years and has received many national and regional awards for her portrait work. Her murals include over 100 renderings of people and dozens of animals and they vary in topics from wildlife to documenting historic events.

About the artist: 

Cheryl Mann Hardin works out of her studio in central Alabama. Born and raised in western Pennsylvania, Cheryl graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in 1966. She continued her artistic training at the Bendell School of Art in Bradenton, Florida. Throughout her art career of over 50 years, she has studied with other widely acclaimed portrait artists. 

Hardin’s portraits have repeatedly won recognition from the National Portrait Institute, the Portrait Society of America and The Portrait Society of Atlanta along with many other regional competitions. Her paintings hang in public and private collections throughout the southeast and her artwork has been featured in museums, galleries and on Georgia Public Television. Cheryl has painted several major outdoor murals including two for the prestigious Wiregrass Festival of Murals.
